This is a theme created for one of our Lifegroups who will be going through the book of Genesis for the next 2 terms. I struggled a lot with this one for a lot of reasons.
- I ended up using the font: Bleeding Cowboys. Normally I'm very picky about the fonts I use and even though this is new and very cool, it is WAY TOO OVER USED!!! Seems like everyone is using it nowadays. - I've actually studied Hebrew in seminary and in college so it wasn't hard to to get the fonts I needed, but going backwords (that and the fact that in Hebrew, the vowels occur above and below the consonants) made it hard to remap the macros to type easier. - I originally wanted to go with a parchment feel for the overall look, but I just couldn't manage a good look. The parchment file is included in the psd file, so anyone is welcome to try for something different. In fact, I'd love to see if anyone could improve it. Anyway, here's the facts: made a high res image (1600x2016). There's only 2 folders: Texts & Backgrounds. This is going to prove to be a great study...knowing the man who is teaching it, I know he delves into the historical cultures and the original language to pull out every meaning and context to fully expose and understand the scriptures. The point of the theme and the deviation is this comes from Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heaven's and the earth." The point is, the very first words of the Bible come down to the reader having to make a decision: in the beginning God...or in the beginning man. You're forced to make a decision from the very first words, do I believe in God, or do I choose to believe something else. Anyway, that in and of itself is a 2 week answer. If you're interested maybe you should wander over to our church site and see if he answers there: [link] *UPDATE* My wife, a second grade school teacher and a perfectionist, told me that God was supposed to be capitalized... - First: if you'll notice, the entire phrase is lower case...this is a graphic design decision. - Second: the font doesn't lend itself to upper case flourishes like it does in the lower case. So that also aided in my decision to keep it all lower caps. I complete believe in the authority and respect for the Holy. It was just a graphical decision. ....just a clarification....and now I'm off. |

I would rather write her a song, because songs don't wait to resolve
and because songs mean so much to her. Stories wait for endings,
but songs are brave things bold enough to sing when all they know is darkness.

Still, amazing work and I COMPLETELY agree with you. Keep up the awesome work.

To be the Kingdom is not to change behavior...
but to be transformed, and simply live as your new nature dictates through the Spirit

Jesus never came to bring religion to the world...man made that, and on top of it messed up their own creation. Jesus came into the world to make relationships...to change lives. Religion by itself can only destroy lives. But Christ brings new life!

"Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a great deal more important than the real ones. .
